Pre-Session Instructions for Laser Hair Removal

3 Weeks Before Treatment:

• No Waxing, Plucking, or Threading: Avoid any hair removal methods that pull out the entire hair shaft. This applies for at least 3 weeks before, during, and after your laser treatments.

2 Weeks Before Treatment:

• Sun Exposure: Avoid direct sun exposure on the treatment area. Protect your skin with SPF 30+ sunscreen.
• No Tanning: Stay away from tanning beds, self-tanning creams, and spray tans. We cannot treat sunburned or freshly tanned skin.
• Pause Retinoids: Discontinue retinoids like Retin-A, tretinoin, and retinol. Resume use 2 weeks after your treatment unless irritation persists.

24 Hours Before Treatment:

• Shave the Area: Shave the treatment area 24 hours prior to your appointment. We can do minor touch-ups, but large areas should be shaved at home.
• Avoid Heat: Steer clear of hot tubs, saunas, or any activity that raises skin temperature.
• Cold Sore/Herpes Prevention: If you have a history of cold sores or genital herpes, start antiviral medication 1 day before and continue for 6 days after treatment.

Day of Treatment:

• No Makeup or Deodorant: Ensure the treatment area is clean and free from makeup or deodorant.
• Inform About Anesthetics: Let your Laser Technician know if you’ve used any topical anesthetic.
• Wear Appropriate Clothing: For bikini treatments, wear a narrow-cut panty or swimsuit. Avoid tight, dark clothing. Loose garments are recommended.

Avoid sun exposure for at least 2 weeks after treatment. After this period, use a sunblock with SPF 30 or higher containing zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.

Immediately Following Treatment:

• The treated area may feel like a sunburn for a few hours, with potential swelling and redness lasting up to 2-3 days.

First 24 Hours:

• Makeup: Wait until the morning after your treatment to apply makeup.
• Sun Exposure: The treatment site must be kept away from sun and self-tanning products.
• Hot Water: Avoid submerging the area in hot water, such as in swimming pools, hot tubs, or baths.
• Rest: Refrain from sweating or overheating activities.
• Underarm Treatment: Do not use antiperspirant or deodorant until the following morning.

After 24 Hours:

• Cleaning: Gently wash the area with mild soap and lukewarm water, rinse thoroughly, and pat dry.
• Sun Protection: Continue avoiding direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks. After this, use SPF 30 or higher sunscreen.
• Shedding: About two weeks post-treatment, you may notice hairs appearing to grow. This is normal as they are actually shedding. Expect a hair-free period lasting around a month after shedding completes.
